How can you prepare for a stress-free veterinary appointment?
Going to the vet isn't always easy for our furry friends. By preparing, you'll be helping them have the best experience possible.

⚠️ In an emergency, call us immediately! There's no time to prepare.

😌 Stay calm - Your pet can sense your stress - speaking softly and moving slowly will help them relax.

🐾 Carrier comfort - Prepare your pet's carrier by adding their bed or familiar blankets with comforting smells. Consider using calming pheromones, sprayed inside the carrier, for added relaxation. Encourage your pet to enter on their own with treats or toys. Covering the carrier with a cloth helps reduce light and visual stimulation.

🧸 Toys, treats, and safety - Bring your pet's blanket to provide familiar scents and make the waiting room more comfortable. A special toy can distract them during uncomfortable procedures, while treats serve as rewards and help with training.

🐶 Extra help - If requested, muzzle your pet before the appointment. Some pets may also benefit from anti-anxiety medications, which your vet can prescribe. Always confirm with your vet before administering any medications, especially if your pet is sick or injured.

🚽 Final preparations - Ensure your pet has toileted just before the appointment. Avoid feeding them too close to the appointment time to prevent nausea and increase treat acceptance. Exercising your pet beforehand, if possible, can also be helpful.

Make your pet's veterinary visit a positive experience for both of you. Your preparation and care will contribute to a stress-free appointment!
